A Skyward Case Study
Burlington Unified School District #244 (enrollment 805) faced an overwhelming paper-based business office: paper time sheets and time-off requests, multiple spreadsheets, and more than 250 employees generated constant calls and manual work that one payroll clerk could not sustainably manage. The district turned to Skyward and adopted its School Business Suite (SMS 2.0) to replace the district’s inadequate legacy systems and move toward a modern, paperless ERP environment.
Skyward implemented School Business Suite with features like Time Off self-service and True Time time-and-attendance, centralizing payroll, W-2 access, employee records, and reporting. The change reduced paper time sheets to “a handful,” enabled the district to add 80+ cooperative employees easily, cut printing costs, saved the business office hours on reporting and payroll processing, and increased accuracy and accountability—demonstrating measurable efficiency gains driven by Skyward.
