Garland ISD - Customer Case Study

Garland Independent School District (Garland ISD), a diverse district of about 63,000 students near Dallas, faced challenges engaging parents and the broader community—especially re‑engaging families of secondary students—amid differences in language, culture, and technology access. To address these barriers, Garland ISD adopted Skyward’s Student Management Suite (including Family Access) in 2014 to improve parent communication and participation.

Skyward’s Family Access and SIS features enabled two‑way, multi‑channel communication (including automated absence calls and real‑time grade notifications), helped the district reorganize student services at no additional cost, and served as a “front door” for family engagement. As a result, Garland ISD reports strong parent feedback, increased high‑school engagement, wider use of social channels, and a district attendance rate of 96 percent—demonstrating measurable improvement in outreach and re‑engagement driven by Skyward.
