Escambia County School District - Customer Case Study

Escambia County School District, serving 46,279 students in Pensacola, Florida, faced significant risk of noncompliance when its legacy payroll system miscalculated pay after changes to the Florida retirement system and limited payroll deductions per employee. To address recurring errors and reporting challenges under the Affordable Care Act and state/federal mandates, the district selected Skyward’s School Business Suite as its new ERP solution.

Skyward implemented the School Business Suite and supporting tools (ACA Utilities, Sub Tracking, True Time, Data Mining, Skyward ACA Portal and SkyDoc), working with ECSD through implementation and critical payroll runs—even completing their first big payroll during a hurricane without interruption. As a result, payroll processing became faster and more accurate, administrators can run many more pre-payroll reports and exception proofs, year-end tasks and corrections (W-2, retirement, ACA) take less time, and the district now reliably prepares 1095 forms and submits files to the IRS before deadlines, significantly reducing compliance risk.
