A Skyward Case Study
Burleson Independent School District, a 17-school district serving about 11,896 students across 55 square miles, faced the challenge of rolling out a district-wide 1:1 technology program—identifying which families needed internet access, assigning fees, and distributing thousands of devices. The district leveraged its long-standing Skyward student information system and ERP (in place for over 13 years) to support the initiative and coordinate a complex rollout across multiple campuses.
Skyward enabled Burleson to use Online Enrollment, custom forms, Family Access, and Fee Management to identify students needing hotspots, notify parents, collect electronic sign-offs, assign nominal Chromebook fees with discounts and caps for eligible families, and integrate payments via RevTrak. Using Skyward’s tools and interoperability, the district distributed about 6,000 Chromebooks in a six-week period, streamlined front-line staff time, and established scalable processes to expand the program into higher grades.
