A Skyward Case Study
Alcoa City Schools, a 1,969-student district south of Knoxville, faced a fragmented technology environment where hundreds of spreadsheets and multiple third‑party applications each kept separate databases, making reliable reporting and state funding data difficult to produce. To address this, the district implemented Skyward’s School Management System—an Ed‑Fi certified SIS and ERP solution—to provide a single, central database and streamline processes.
Skyward became the district’s data hub, enabling one‑time data entry that replicates to third‑party systems, improving interoperability and staff productivity through training and lunch‑and‑learns that drove adoption. As a result, Alcoa cleaned up its data, created a more collaborative culture, and earned state recognition as a top performer for state reporting and data matches—boosting confidence in reporting accuracy and ensuring the district receives appropriate funding.
