Sewanee: The University of the South, a small residential university with a tightly knit campus community, needed an easy, cost-effective way to replace student-run PCs and PowerPoint files for campus messaging. The Helpdesk needed to send emergency alerts and update PDFs, images, videos and web content across multiple displays and remote locations. After evaluating solutions and leveraging the campus’s existing use of Google Slides, they selected Skykit’s cloud-based digital signage CMS.
Skykit implemented a simple, intuitive digital signage platform that integrates with Google Slides and supports common file types, allowing admins to post updates from any device—even cell phones—and push emergency communications from any location. The system is now used beyond the Helpdesk by Admissions, Dining Hall (menus updated on preset schedules and in real time), and IT (news, weather and cybersecurity alerts), with plans to expand to Science and Math—demonstrating campus-wide adoption and more consistent, timely communications via Skykit.
