Case Study: Williams (Fortune 500 energy company) achieves enterprise-wide cloud compliance and an 80% reduction in service‑vetting time with Skyhigh Networks

A Skyhigh Networks Case Study

Preview of the Williams Case Study

Williams leverages CASB Technology to ensure enterprisewide compliance, reduce risk and rein in shadow IT

Williams, a Fortune 500 energy infrastructure company headquartered in Tulsa with about 5,800 employees, had an open cloud policy that led to widespread shadow IT and limited visibility into risk across the enterprise. Security teams discovered they were using more than 2,000 cloud services, faced lengthy, manual vendor security assessments, and lacked a way to enforce policies without disrupting users.

Williams deployed Skyhigh’s CASB (Skyhigh for Shadow IT) to discover and govern cloud services, using CloudTrust ratings and machine‑learning analytics to assess risk and detect anomalous behavior. The program identified and reduced high‑risk activity (53 high‑risk services in a snapshot), cut man‑hours to evaluate services by 80%, coached users to sanctioned tools like OneDrive, improved FERC and internal compliance, consolidated services, and lowered cost and enterprise risk while enabling safe cloud adoption.
