Case Study: Steelcase tames shadow IT and enforces cloud DLP with Skyhigh Networks

A Skyhigh Networks Case Study

Preview of the Steelcase Case Study

Steelcase is the world’s largest office furniture manufacturer with over 80 locations and 11,000 employees worldwide, including facilities in Europe, the Middle East and Asia

Steelcase, the world’s largest office furniture manufacturer with 11,000 employees and a global, distributed workforce, faced a growing security and governance challenge as rapid cloud adoption created widespread shadow IT. After the Board requested an audit, IT discovered roughly 3,500 cloud services in use—only a handful of which were sanctioned—putting sensitive data and access controls at risk while complicating Office 365 rollout and remote collaboration.

Steelcase deployed Skyhigh for Shadow IT and Office 365 alongside OneLogin for identity and single sign‑on, using Skyhigh’s Cloud Registry and DLP controls plus OneLogin’s unified AD and SSO capabilities. The team blocked about 600 high‑risk services, coached users to safer options like OneDrive, enforced DLP and threat protection, consolidated apps, sped up onboarding, and detected compromised accounts—resulting in stronger data protection, streamlined user access, and reduced cost and effort to vet and manage cloud services.
