Allied Irish Banks (AIB), a leading retail and corporate bank in Ireland, needed to embrace cloud services to support digital channels while meeting strict regulatory, legal and compliance requirements. The bank discovered widespread shadow IT and lacked visibility into which cloud services employees were using, meaning the existing Remote Access Forum approval process was being bypassed and creating unmanaged risk.

AIB deployed Skyhigh’s CloudTrust Registry to discover and score cloud services, classify providers by risk, and prioritize remediation. The effort produced granular reporting, a published list of approved services and a Security Supplier Relationship Management function to vet vendors—resulting in reduced cloud access risk, faster approval decisions, improved employee productivity and better preparedness for future cloud initiatives.
