Tulsa Fire Department deploys 7 drones to control chemical fire in a few hours with Skydio

The Tulsa Fire Department (TFD) faced the challenge of safely responding to a hazardous chemical fire at the Axle Royal facility, a major incident that was dangerous for both the public and first responders. They needed to assess the situation and monitor the spread of chemicals without putting personnel in harm's way. To address this, they utilized autonomous drones from Skydio, including a docked Drone as a First Responder (DFR).

Skydio's solution provided real-time aerial footage and thermal imaging, which allowed incident commanders to track hotspots and see the fire's progression. The implementation of Skydio's technology, including a drone deployed from a dock at the Gathering Place, enabled continuous monitoring and dramatically improved situational awareness. As a result, TFD safely mitigated the large-scale fire in just a few hours by strategically moving resources based on the drone data, ensuring no one was hurt.
