St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office deploys 12 drones with Skydio to speed emergency response

The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office sought a force multiplier to enhance emergency response and officer safety. To address this challenge, they partnered with Skydio to implement a Drone as First Responder (DFR) program, utilizing the Skydio X10 drone and its capabilities.

Skydio's solution provided the agency with a fleet of drones equipped with thermal imaging, 3D mapping, and loudspeakers. This allowed deputies to safely and quickly gain situational awareness of volatile incidents. The program resulted in faster response times, enhanced deputy safety by allowing risk assessment before entry, and set a regional standard for public safety, inspiring neighboring agencies to expand their own drone programs.
