PG&E, a major utility company, sought to enhance worker safety and improve the efficiency of its extensive equipment inspection program. The hazardous nature of accessing remote structures and the time-consuming process of sending employees into the field presented significant challenges. To address this, PG&E partnered with Skydio to implement a solution using the Skydio Dock and autonomous drones for remote operations.

The solution implemented by Skydio involved deploying remotely operated Skydio Docks stationed at substations. This allowed pilots to launch Skydio drones from a centralized control room, capturing inspection data without sending personnel on-site. The drones' AI-powered autonomy enabled safe navigation in challenging environments.
