Oklahoma City Police Department resolves 84 incidents with Skydio DFR at the state fair

The Oklahoma City Police Department faced the challenge of managing public safety at a large, multi-day event, the Oklahoma State Fair, which attracts over 900,000 attendees across 435 acres. While tasked with securing the fair, the department also had to maintain effective policing operations for the rest of the city. To help manage this, they partnered with Skydio to implement a drone as first responder (DFR) program.

Skydio provided a dock-based drone solution using Skydio X2 drones and drone docking stations. This allowed remote pilots to deploy drones from a web browser to provide immediate aerial overwatch. The solution was a resounding success; over the 11-day event, the drones flew 341 times and were pivotal in resolving 84 incidents, including de-escalating a shooting and locating missing persons. Skydio's technology significantly improved community safety, minimized officer risk, and expedited incident response.
