A SkyBitz Case Study
Paul Musslewhite Trucking Co., based in Levelland, Texas, needed a better way to manage thousands of frac tanks and trailers spread across remote oil fields in Texas and New Mexico. Its manual spreadsheet- and inspection-based tracking process was inefficient, prone to human error, and made it costly to locate “missing” assets in the field. SkyBitz provided the asset visibility the company needed, including a durable, no-power-source solution for harsh outdoor conditions.
SkyBitz implemented its satellite-based Global Locating System (GLS) mobile terminals, which could be installed in 15 to 30 minutes and run for years on AA batteries. The solution gave Paul Musslewhite Trucking real-time visibility into asset location and movement, improved billing accuracy, and reduced fuel, labor, and lost-time costs tied to manual searches. By 2013, the company had equipped 1,200 frac tanks with SkyBitz and planned to add 500 more, using the data to streamline maintenance and maximize fleet utilization.
