The University of Houston, a leading public research university serving about 40,000 students, faced an organizational change and tasked a new IT organizational development director with building an employee-driven professional development program. Faculty and staff were already using Smartforce (now merged with Skillsoft), and internal research identified business skills as the highest priority for improvement.

After a successful pilot, UH became Skillsoft’s first enterprise-wide education partner in the U.S., adopting Skillsoft’s full library of business, IT and desktop eLearning plus online book collections. The platform was integrated into coursework—five College of Technology professors used Skillsoft and one implemented a blended “Leading Change in the Workplace” course—driving a 152% increase in courses accessed and a 372% increase in course completions.
