Mercy is a 45-hospital, 300-clinic Catholic health system serving millions annually and supporting roughly 50,000 co‑workers. As the organization moves quickly toward standardized processes, mobile technology and modern care delivery, its relatively young IT workforce needed scalable ways to build technical and leadership skills and to empower employees to choose career paths.

Mercy deployed Skillsoft’s Skillport to deliver technical, desktop and business courses and set a 40‑hour annual development expectation; IT staff averaged more than 50 hours per person in the first three years. The program delivered more than 12,700 course completions, cut offsite training travel costs by about $1.5M, and achieved a 526% ROI (2016 Nucleus Research Technology ROI Award).
