General Electric (GE), the multinational Digital Industrial company, needed to proactively support more than 10,000 U.S. veterans transitioning into corporate roles. GE sought targeted learning and development programs that would also enable mentorship and sponsorship from within the veteran community.

Using Skillsoft Leadership content, GE’s Veteran Network piloted the Veterans Leadership Journey (VLJ) in 2016 with monthly virtual sessions and debriefs featuring peers and GE executives, supplemented by videos, book summaries, practical exercises and veteran coaches. The program delivered strong results: 85% of participants reported the topics were valuable and relevant, learners applied skills on the job, coaching was rated effective, and GE added six more topics to the curriculum.
