DXC Technology’s Big Data Group needed to rapidly build Python programming expertise to support a large slate of new projects and create a talent pipeline for future Python-based bids. With an urgent skills gap across its IT teams, DXC sought a scalable learning solution to upskill employees without heavy infrastructure costs.

Skillsoft delivered CodeX virtual coding practice labs after a training needs assessment and a pilot co-designed by a Skillsoft Program Manager and DXC managers. The experiential labs let learners practice coding without dedicated test servers; the pilot saw 94% participation, 97% of participants reporting the labs were effective and that they’re applying what they learned, 13% now rating their Python knowledge as expert, and 100% able to work on Python projects. DXC plans to expand the program globally and apply the labs to other languages such as Java and .NET.
