Domtar, a Fortune 1000 leader in pulp and paper with about 10,000 employees, needed a scalable way to train frontline supervisors without pulling them off the job. The CEO charged learning and development to build a practical supervisory program that supported safety, continuous improvement and engagement while minimizing time away from operations.
Using Skillsoft, Domtar launched a blended learning program—curating Business Skills, Leadership, IT and Compliance content into a Growing as a Supervisor library in its My Knowledge Tree online university and planning SumTotal integration for individual development plans. The program saved an estimated $325K annually, won strong approval (99% of participants), and grew participation from 300 frontline supervisors to over 800 learners per quarter, including other managers.
