Clickmechanic uplifts engineering team engagement by code visualization

ClickMechanic, a UK-based marketplace for auto mechanics, faced the challenge of developing complex new features, such as its tyre fitting product, which required mapping intricate user journeys and system components. To tackle this, their engineering team, which is partly remote, needed a flexible online tool to boost collaboration and visualize the system design before writing code. They turned to the vendor, Sketchboard, and its software diagram tool to address this.

Using Sketchboard's online whiteboard, the team created flowcharts to map user journeys and software interaction diagrams to design core system components collaboratively. This solution allowed the entire team to edit diagrams concurrently, ensuring everyone was aligned. As a result, Sketchboard helped achieve a significant reduction in overall development time for the new tyres product by providing a clear visual blueprint before coding began.
