The Oklahoma Army National Guard needed to expand its videoconferencing capacity as more soldiers had to travel to Oklahoma City for meetings and training, and their existing systems were no longer sufficient. To address this challenge, the Guard worked with SKC Communications and Polycom HD videoconferencing solutions, including Polycom HDX 8000 and HDX 9000 units.

SKC Communications installed 122 Polycom HD units across National Guard stations throughout the state, creating a larger, high-definition telepresence network. The upgrade now supports nearly 1,200 hours of videoconferencing each month, improves access to distance learning, and helps keep guardsmen off the road and closer to home; it also supports live helicopter-based counter-drug missions by streaming video to base stations for faster decision-making.
