Case Study: Corizon expands secure telemedicine services with SKC Communications

Corizon, a healthcare provider serving state and county correctional facilities, needed a safer and more cost-effective way to move offenders for specialized care, reducing the risks and expenses of offsite transport. SKC Communications responded to this challenge by expanding Corizon’s telepsychology success into clinical telemedicine using an STS Telemedicine Cart with Polycom HDX 8000, AMD medical devices, and a Crestron touch panel.

SKC Communications worked with Corizon and the Missouri Department of Corrections to build a secure, prison-ready telemedicine cart with fully enclosed, lockable equipment storage and custom controls. The solution enabled HD videoconferencing and diagnostic image sharing, and the program grew from the original two Missouri sites to 13 additional Missouri sites plus two Indiana units, improving access to care while reducing transport-related burden and safety concerns.
