Banque Mauritanienne du Commerce International (BMCI), a leading Mauritanian bank, faced the challenge of a low national banking rate due to a concentration of physical branches in urban centers. To quickly provide digital banking services to the unbanked population in rural areas, BMCI partnered with vendor Skaleet to launch a new neobank, requiring a fast and reliable technological solution.
Using Skaleet's SaaS core banking platform, BMCI launched its Masrvi digital bank in just four months. The solution included onboarding, account management, and a mobile app. This allowed BMCI to rapidly build a network of merchants and agents. The results were exceptional: Masrvi acquired over 780,000 customers, processed 30 million transactions in three years, and helped double Mauritania's expanded banking rate, with deposits growing by over 20% in 2023.
