The Linux Foundation cuts test time from 10 to 3 minutes with Six Feet Up

The Linux Foundation, a nonprofit technology consortium, faced the challenge of modernizing and securing the infrastructure for its certification training courses. They reached out to Six Feet Up to upgrade their existing applications, which involved updating key frameworks and improving a custom system that interacts with multiple outside web services.

Six Feet Up implemented a solution that included upgrading Flask and Marshmallow to more modern versions, purging obsolete code, and introducing pytest to create a more efficient testing infrastructure. This increased Python test coverage from 60% to 80% and reduced test run time from 10 minutes to 3 minutes. Additionally, Six Feet Up built new Django applications, including a Lab Launcher for Kubernetes courses. The results were a more secure, modernized system and freed-up developer time for The Linux Foundation.
