Rapid Science launches Sarcoma Central with Six Feet Up to unify 2 Django apps

Rapid Science, a non-profit organization, needed to accelerate scientific discovery by improving its online Collaboration Portal. They engaged vendor Six Feet Up to help develop the second iteration of their platform, Sarcoma Central. The challenge involved merging two separate Django applications, which suffered from a lack of documentation and an unorganized list of desired improvements.

Six Feet Up consolidated the two apps into one integrated system using Django/Wagtail and Solr. They created a Living SpecBook to organize and prioritize enhancements, then implemented them using an Agile approach. The resulting Sarcoma Central platform allows researchers to securely share data and collaborate in groups. The solution has generated strong interest from large scientific communities and pharmaceutical groups, with a significant potential impact on global healthcare and human lives.
