Penn State University consolidates 120+ course sites into one with Six Feet Up

Penn State University's College of the Liberal Arts was experiencing performance issues and outages with its eLearning system, which consisted of over 120 individual Plone course sites. The college engaged vendor Six Feet Up to address the challenge of consolidating these sites and improving stability.

Six Feet Up implemented its Lineage product to consolidate all courses into a single, efficient Plone instance with departmental subsites. The solution included a new high-availability hosting architecture on nine virtual machines. This resulted in a "rock solid" system that resolved all server issues, greatly improved uptime and performance, and streamlined course management for the college.
