A Six Feet Up Case Study
The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) at Harvard University needed to upgrade its content management system to offer more engaging features and prepare for future development. Their challenge involved migrating a large, outdated website and intranet to a modern platform. They partnered with vendor Six Feet Up to migrate their environment to the latest release of the Plone CMS and to receive ongoing support.
Six Feet Up executed a meticulous, multi-step migration of the SEAS site from Plone 3.1.5.1 to version 4.1, which included optimizing the codebase, pinning add-ons and developing a migration script. After successfully upgrading the main site, Six Feet Up also upgraded the school's intranet. The result was that Harvard SEAS successfully upgraded its sites and intranet to the most recent version of Plone, giving them access to the latest developments from the open source community.
