The customer FactSet faced the challenge of analyzing years' worth of hard-copy contracts stored in filing cabinets. The documents had inconsistent layouts, poor print quality, and various scan artifacts, and there was no available library that could accurately extract the specific table data they needed. Vendor Six Feet Up was engaged to develop a solution using AI/ML and business process automation.

Six Feet Up implemented a custom solution using Amazon Textract for OCR and their in-house developed "Form Extractor" tool. This tool processed the documents on AWS, performing image repair, intelligently mapping table cells—even inferring missing borders—and extracting the data into key/value pairs. The program deployed by Six Feet Up processed each document in just 0.1 seconds, allowing FactSet to quickly digitize years of contracts for further analysis.
