Duke streamlines its intranet with Six Feet Up using 3 Plone workflows

The Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI) needed to upgrade its cumbersome static HTML intranet to improve staff collaboration and content ownership. They engaged vendor Six Feet Up to implement a new "hub and spokes" site structure using the Plone content management system.

Six Feet Up developed a Plone intranet with a main hub and independent subsites for each clinical trial, enabling decentralized content management. The solution included integrated workflows for access control and content syndication, a skin-switching feature for subsites, and integration with an external staff directory. This allowed DCRI staff to collaborate efficiently by maintaining their own content while seamlessly sharing information like news and events across the entire intranet.
