CNM Community College completes a 6-month Plone migration with Six Feet Up

Six Feet Up was engaged by Central New Mexico (CNM) Community College to tackle a complex challenge involving an in-place upgrade of their Plone CMS from version 5.1 to 5.2. The college also needed to migrate from Python 2 to Python 3, make numerous add-ons compatible with the new environment, transfer their on-premises data center to Amazon Web Services (AWS), and implement a completely new website theme, all while ensuring the site remained secure and operational.

The solution implemented by Six Feet Up involved a meticulously planned and tested six-month migration process. This included developing a programmatic migration path for Python, creating custom add-ons to replace obsolete ones, transferring the infrastructure to AWS using EC2 and RDS, and implementing a new responsive theme with Diazo. The final migration was executed seamlessly, resulting in a secure, modern website stored in the cloud with very few changes requested after user acceptance testing.
