Mathematica Policy Research, a policy research firm, needed to overcome technology limitations that were hurting the throughput and scalability of its Survey Design and Data Collection services. The company partnered with Siwel Consulting to modernize its big data environment and support faster, more flexible analysis of growing and increasingly complex survey data.

Siwel Consulting implemented an evolved Cisco Validated Design for enterprise Hadoop deployments, using Cisco UCS, Cisco Nexus switches, Red Hat, Cloudera, and NetApp E-Series storage. The new platform accelerated survey data processing by 13x, cut a process that took about 13 hours to roughly one hour, eliminated the need to break survey logic into pieces, and created a scalable, future-proof architecture that opened the door to innovation across other business units.
