SiteSpect worked with a large UK grocery chain to solve a common mobile challenge: limited screen space made it hard to decide what navigation elements should be persistent versus hidden, and how those choices affected product discovery and conversions. The retailer needed to understand how users interacted with top navigation and whether a different layout would help customers find and buy products more easily.
The team A/B tested two full-width navigation variants that expanded beneath the main menu so top-level options remained visible; Variant 1 also retained a promotional/personalization slot. Both variants drove over a 5% increase in Adds to Cart, with Variant 1 improving performance across most taxonomy levels and some lower-level categories seeing 600%+ gains—demonstrating that a distraction-free, persistent top menu boosted product discovery and conversions.
