Musicnotes is a digital sheet music retailer with a catalog of over 300,000 arrangements and free interactive apps, serving 20 million users and 200 million page views per year. When they launched a premium tier, Musicnotes Pro – Plus, the marketing team needed to determine which cart-page message—extra savings or “PDFs included”—would better drive membership sign-ups.
Using SiteSpect’s Find and Replace A/B testing (implemented entirely by marketing without developer support), they ran a 50/50 test on the cart page for just over three weeks and then pushed the winning variation sitewide. The “PDFs Included with Every Order” message won: among ~240,000 users exposed, overall membership sign-ups rose 33% and annual plan purchases increased 40%; Musicnotes is continuing further tests to refine the experience.
