A SiteSpect Case Study
EnergySage is an online marketplace that connects solar shoppers with vetted installers and aggregates quotes to simplify going solar. To optimize their digital experience they used SiteSpect, but ran into a measurement challenge: the registration form on the site counted all submissions, while true value came only from submissions manually reviewed and approved in their CRM — an offline step that standard URL-based tracking couldn’t capture.
Working with SiteSpect, EnergySage built a workflow using the SiteSpect Engine API that captures the SiteSpect cookie and user ID at form submission, stores that in their CRM, and then sends an API call with the user identifiers and a specific metric ID when an employee approves a submission. That API-driven approval metric is recorded and attributed to the original campaign and variation, enabling EnergySage to optimize for validated, revenue-driving submissions rather than gross form fills and to run reliable experiments despite changes in the onboarding flow.
