SiteSpect worked with a large home goods retailer that was running a promotion for free shipping on orders over $29. The retailer displayed a “Free shipping on orders over $29” badge only on items priced above $29 and wanted to know whether showing the badge on lower-priced items would increase conversions.
An A/B test compared the original (badge only on items >$29) to a variation that showed the free-shipping badge on all items. Over 31 days the variation produced more than $300,000 in additional revenue, increased visits past the cart to checkout step 1 by nearly 5%, and lifted revenue per visit by about 2%. The retailer rolled the change out sitewide and now applies the approach to future promotions while continuing to test and monitor.
