A Siteimprove Case Study
Windsor-Essex County Health Unit, the public health authority serving Windsor and Essex County, Ontario, faced the challenge of keeping a large, diverse website current, relevant and accessible to a wide audience. The site’s breadth of content from multiple internal and external sources, together with Ontario’s strict AODA accessibility requirements, made it difficult to find and fix quality and accessibility issues at scale.
The unit implemented Siteimprove’s web governance tools for quality assurance, accessibility and analytics, using the Accessibility tool, content review processes and daily monitoring to address issues one-by-one (including a site-wide color-contrast update). This approach produced clear results: a 100% reduction in broken links and misspellings, zero clicks on broken links, and improved accessibility and analytics that streamline ongoing maintenance.
