The City of McAllen Implements New User-Friendly Website Using Sitefinity

The City of McAllen, TX, needed a more manageable website as rapid growth exposed weaknesses in its legacy site: hundreds of static pages, isolated applications in separate databases, and all updates routed through a single web developer. With dozens of departments spread across locations, the city required a centralized system that allowed departmental content submission while preserving review and approval workflows to ensure accuracy and consistency.

McAllen implemented Sitefinity, a .NET CMS that centralized content, integrated custom applications into a unified admin panel, and supported multiple department designs within the ASP.NET framework. Built-in workflow, search, RSS and calendar features let departments submit and review content without developer intervention, producing a user-friendly, searchable site that is easier to maintain and continually updated.
