Case Study: Ryland Homes achieves XHTML cross-browser compliance and marketing control of 9,000+ pages with Sitefinity

A Sitefinity Case Study

Preview of the Ryland Homes Case Study

One of the America’s largest home builders chooses Sitefinity

Ryland Homes, a Fortune 500 homebuilder based in Southern California that operates in 28 markets and has built over 270,000 homes, needed to modernize ryland.com to be XHTML and cross‑browser compliant while retaining CMS functionality. The challenge was to move to a platform that gave the company complete control over markup and presentation as browsers and standards matured.

Ryland migrated from Sitefinity 2.x to Sitefinity 3.0 to match its C#/.NET/SQL Server stack and built 57 user controls that separate content from presentation, letting marketing manage more than 9,000 pages while IT controls display. The project ran Jan–Sept 2007 and launched in early September; results include a rebuilt, standards‑compliant site, SEO URL rewriting, and streamlined content governance.
