Yarra City Council uses Sitecore to drive better citizen engagement and provide better services to local residents

Yarra City Council faced an aging, desktop‑only website that delivered a poor mobile and accessibility experience, forced authors to manage separate microsites, and couldn’t integrate with core systems or support online self‑service. To modernize its citizen services and content management, Yarra City Council selected Sitecore and its Experience Platform (XP) along with Sitecore Experience Database (xDB) and Sitecore Engagement Analytics as the foundation for the redevelopment.

Using Sitecore (implemented by partner NOW Digital), the council consolidated multiple sites into a single, component‑based Sitecore instance hosted on Azure, enabling content sharing across sites, unified search, and integrations with AD, CRM, payments, GIS and other systems. The project delivered five user‑centred, WCAG 2.0 AA‑compliant websites (launched one month early), a scalable Azure PaaS platform, improved mobile‑first UX and the analytics/personalisation capabilities from Sitecore to drive better citizen engagement and streamlined operations.
