Using Sitecore’s Intranet Portal to put every employee at the center of personalized tools and information

Næstved Kommune, a large Danish municipality serving 81,000 citizens with nearly 8,000 employees spread across many sites, faced communication and operational bottlenecks that made it hard to deliver timely, relevant information to staff. To modernize internal collaboration and put employees at the center of personalized tools and information, Næstved Kommune adopted Sitecore’s Intranet Portal (SIP), a solution that helped the organization win Sitecore’s Site of the Year — Denmark, Best Intranet.

Using Sitecore’s SIP with a blend of out-of-the-box features and targeted custom development, Næstved created a single sign-on “front door” to core services, implemented data-channeling personalization for role- and department-specific homepages, and added advanced search and front-end editing. The Sitecore implementation delivered quick wins—reduced internal phone calls and fewer mass “send to all” emails—faster access to documents via integrated ESDH, and easier content reuse and management by leveraging existing Sitecore CMS skills.
