Case Study: University of Southern Denmark (SDU) achieves a one-week CMS upgrade and stable management of half a million items for 800 editors with Sitecore

A Sitecore Case Study

Preview of the University of Southern Denmark Case Study

The University upgraded its Sitecore CMS in just one week. Having 1/2 million unique items and 800 editors working on content on a daily basis did not mean a problem

The University of Southern Denmark operates a high‑traffic, legally required information site serving about 20,000 students and 4,000 staff across six campuses. Confronted with ½ million unique items, 800 editors working daily and inconsistent content across multiple web servers, the university needed to upgrade its Sitecore CMS (Sitecore CMS V6.2) rapidly without any downtime.

Working with Sitecore (with partner Cabana), the team centralized media via a static media server, removed corrupt coding practices and prepared the infrastructure to migrate versions. The Sitecore implementation and upgrade were completed in one week, resolving synchronization issues, stabilizing the CMS for 800 editors and roughly 10,000 front‑end users, and ensuring uninterrupted, up‑to‑date documentation for students.
