Case Study: Komatsu Australia Pty Ltd achieves mobile self-service parts commerce and 90% faster transactions with Sitecore

A Sitecore Case Study

Preview of the Komatsu Australia Pty Ltd Case Study

Sitecore integration with business systems enables customers to search and purchase the right parts from complex catalog

Komatsu Australia Pty Ltd, a leader in earthmoving, mining and construction equipment across Australia, New Zealand and New Caledonia, needed a way to better serve its “long tail” of smaller customers who account for 20% of revenue. Existing ordering options (ERP interfaces for large clients and a limited SharePoint site for some account holders) lacked searchability, mobile access and credit-card payments, causing lost sales from a 450,000‑part catalogue and slow, inefficient transactions.

Komatsu engaged Sitecore (with partner Empired) to build a mobile‑optimized self‑service portal using Sitecore Experience Platform (XP 8.2), Sitecore Experience Database (xDB) and Sitecore Experience Commerce, integrated with Microsoft Dynamics and new payment, fraud‑detection and freight systems. The Sitecore solution delivered advanced search (including visual search and order uploads), online credit‑card checkout and delivery updates, yielding 90% faster transactions, an 11% increase in new users, greater sales and internal efficiency, and increased adoption by Komatsu’s own sales staff.
