Sitecore Helps University of Alberta Build a Stronger Web Experience for Students and Faculty

The University of Alberta, one of Canada’s leading research and teaching institutions, faced a fragmented web presence built on an outdated CMS and static HTML pages that required manual coding and FTP uploads. Content was duplicated or lost, departments were reluctant to publish, and authors were constrained by HTML knowledge—problems the university addressed by selecting Sitecore’s CMS to modernize its web operations.

Sitecore replaced the legacy system with a scalable, reusable content platform, integrating Google Maps for an interactive CampusMap, Google Calendar for events, and social media feeds while enabling news aggregation from more than 160 sites. As a result, the University of Alberta has launched over 350 websites in three years, improved content reuse and scheduling with Sitecore’s publish tools, and delivered a simpler, more flexible web experience for editors and external audiences.
