Beliefnet, a leading multi‑faith online community, faced an antiquated CMS that hindered traffic growth, SEO, ad targeting and editorial efficiency. To meet goals of increasing site traffic, improving ad revenue workflows, and freeing technical staff to focus on higher‑value work, Beliefnet selected Sitecore’s CMS after evaluating fifteen vendors.
Working with Sitecore and implementation partner Digitaria, Beliefnet overhauled its front and back ends, adding a custom poll module, a robust tagging system, customizable content modules and social integration. The Sitecore CMS streamlined content management, enabled dynamic content rotation and easier ad targeting, produced huge time savings for editorial staff, and supported Beliefnet’s scale—about 2.5–3 million unique visitors per month and 12 million newsletter subscribers—and contributed to winning the National Magazine Award for General Excellence Online.
