Case Study: Elsevier Business Intelligence achieves web-first publishing and streamlined content management with Sitecore

A Sitecore Case Study

Preview of the Elsevier Business Intelligence Case Study

Sitecore CMS helps Elsevier Business Intelligence Follow a Web-first Method of Publishing

Elsevier Business Intelligence, a provider of data and analysis for senior executives in medical device, biopharma and consumer health, faced a fragmented authoring environment (four different systems), print-centric workflows, and the need to consolidate multiple web and e‑commerce properties while making 200,000+ articles searchable and integrating customer data in Salesforce. To address these challenges they implemented Sitecore’s Content Management System (with development by partner Velir) to support a web‑first publishing model and modernize content, fulfillment and entitlement workflows.

Velir built a single Sitecore instance that consolidated five web properties and integrated Coveo Search, ExactTarget, Zuora, Salesforce and Adaptive Print Studio, plus a Microsoft Word plug‑in to streamline authoring and styling. The Sitecore solution enabled automated marketing, personalization and real‑time CRM capture; delivered nearly 100% uptime; and drove measurable gains—higher client usage, increased new user registrations and significantly more visits from search engines—while accelerating web‑first publishing and revenue opportunities.
