Case Study: AdoptAClassroom.org achieves seamless multi-vendor ordering and blended payments with Sitecore OrderCloud

Online marketplace empowers teachers to use donations to purchase supplies

AdoptAClassroom, a national nonprofit that helps donors fund K–12 classroom supplies, needed to replace a legacy proprietary eCommerce system so teachers could order from multiple vendors, use blended (split) payments in a single transaction, and integrate seamlessly with back-office systems like Salesforce. To meet those requirements they engaged Sitecore and its Sitecore OrderCloud platform to rebuild their marketplace and vendor connections.

Sitecore implemented a customized application on Sitecore OrderCloud that integrated thousands of products from multiple educational vendors (including punch-out vendors), handled vendor-specific shipping, fees and tax, and used a custom OrderCloud webhook to feed detailed order data back into Salesforce. The result was a streamlined single-checkout experience where teachers can combine donations and personal payment methods, and admins can easily manage products, users and addresses through the OrderCloud console—delivering measurable scale (thousands of integrated SKUs) and operational efficiency while avoiding the need to replatform.
