Case Study: VKR Holding achieves a company-wide, personalized intranet for knowledge sharing with Sitecore

A Sitecore Case Study

Preview of the VKR Holding Case Study

New intranet becomes company focal point

VKR Holding, a group of more than 25 brands (including VELUX) employing about 16,000 people across 40+ countries, needed to replace a five‑year‑old, read‑only intranet with a user‑friendly platform that would enable knowledge sharing across national and company boundaries. VKR selected Sitecore to upgrade its internal communications, leveraging Sitecore’s Intranet Portal and CMS so the company could reuse content and manage both intranet and public websites on a single technology.

Sitecore implemented a customizable, multi‑intranet solution with Web 2.0 features (wikis, forums), integration with Active Directory for single sign‑on, and granular publishing/security controls. The new Sitecore intranet delivers personalized views, company‑specific skins and single sign‑on across domains, turning the site into VKR’s focal point for collaboration and news; employees now use the forums frequently for networking and knowledge sharing, and the platform connects staff across locations, roles and companies within VKR.
