A Sitecore Case Study

Most wireless campus in the nation chooses Sitecore and increases student applications by 38%

Ball State University, a nationally recognized institution with over 20,000 students and more than 220 web sites, needed to modernize its online presence to support recruitment and campus communications. Their legacy WCM was difficult for nontechnical editors, lacked workflow and brand controls, and made site-wide updates slow and error-prone — so Ball State selected Sitecore CMS for its .NET architecture, scalability and intuitive, Office-like editor interface.

Sitecore implemented a campus-wide CMS and reorganized Ball State’s information architecture, enabling roughly 600 faculty, staff and students to edit content, improving consistency and navigation, and integrating with the university’s .NET environment. Since the October 2007 launch, Ball State reports a 38.5% increase in student applications year-over-year, numerous web awards (eduStyle, Webby Honoree, CASE Silver), and a planned rollout to manage all 220+ sites with Sitecore.
