Case Study: Darebin City Council achieves a personalised, multilingual digital neighbourhood with Sitecore

A Sitecore Case Study

Preview of the Darebin City Council Case Study

How the City of Darebin built a personalised, multilingual digital neighbourhood

Darebin City Council, serving about 143,000 residents in northern Melbourne and a community that speaks 118 languages, needed a faster, more manageable and multilingual web platform to support nine sites with a very small digital team. The council moved away from a slow, limiting CMS and chose Sitecore (Sitecore Experience Platform / Sitecore 8) to enable personalised experiences, multilingual content and easier content management.

Using Sitecore 8 — together with ReadSpeaker, Acendre eRecruit and development partner Precedent — the council consolidated and rebuilt its sites, added persona-driven personalisation and accessibility features, and improved information architecture. The Sitecore implementation cut pages from 1,000+ to 120, increased mobile traffic from 22% to 33% (2014–2017), raised ‘add event’ submissions by 47% and ‘contact us’ submissions by 35%, and increased average time on page by 28 seconds, delivering faster authoring, better UX and measurable engagement gains.
