How Housing Industry Association empowered its members with a personalised dashboard and powerful search function

Housing Industry Association (HIA) is the only national industry association for Australian residential building professionals, representing some 40,000 members. As a 60‑year NFP, HIA’s online presence was fragmented across five inconsistent sites with poor information architecture, no targeting or relevancy, and content management knowledge concentrated in a single person—prompting a need for a cohesive digital strategy. HIA selected Sitecore and the Sitecore Experience Platform to address these challenges.

Sitecore implemented a rebuilt hia.com.au with personalization, improved search and navigation, and a member-only My HIA dashboard (integrating with systems such as iMIS/VETtrak and planned Dynamics integration). After launching in March 2014, Sitecore’s solution drove a 33% decrease in bounce rate, 53% increase in page views per session and a 52% increase in dwell time (to 3m40s), plus fewer member support calls and easier access to invoices, licences and exclusive content.
